【摘要】:1.1Thisguideisintendedtoassistspecifiersandendusersinassessingthedifferentoptionsavailableforsanitarylandfilldailycovermaterialsdescribedasalternative(non-soil)dailycovers(ADCs).Traditionaldailycoverconsistsofatleast6in.ofsoilspreadovertheworkingfacesofsanitarylandfills.Alternativesystemsareattractivetolandfilloperationsinordertoconservelandfilldisposalspace,amongotherreasons.1.2ThisguideassistsinunderstandingdifferentperformancefeaturesofbroadclassificationsofADCs,anddeterminingtheextentanddegreetowhichdifferentADCsareableto"controldiseasevectors,fires,odors,blowinglitter,andscavenging,withoutpresentingathreattohumanhealthandtheenvironment,"asintendedbyUnitedStatesEnvironmentalProtectionAgency(USEPA)regulations.1.3ThisguideisnotintendedtoprovidecostinformationregardingthevariousADCsasastandardguide,itdoesnotdictateaprotocolforthepracticeandtestingofADCs,butratherprovidesvaluableinformation,guidance,andrecommendationstointerestedpartiesconcerningthemanyoptionsavailable.
