【摘要】:1Thispracticeoutlinestheinstallationqualificationpro-gramforanX-ray(bremsstrahlung)irradiatorandthedosim-etricprocedurestobefollowedduringoperationalqualifica-tion,performancequalificationandroutineprocessingtoensurethattheentireproducthasbeentreatedwithinapredeterminedrangeofabsorbeddose.Otherproceduresre-latedtooperationalqualification,performancequalificationandroutineprocessingthatmayinfluenceabsorbeddoseintheproductarealsodiscussed.InformationabouteffectiveorregulatorydoselimitsandenergylimitsforX-radiationisnotwithinthescopeofthispractice.2Incontrasttomonoenergeticgammaradiation,thebremsstrahlungenergyspectrumextendsfromlowvalues(about35keV)uptothemaximumenergyoftheelectronsincidentontheX-raytarget(seeSection5andAnnexAI).3Dosimetryisonlyonecomponentofatotalqualityassuranceprogramforanirradiationfacility.Othercontrolsbesidesdosimetrymayberequiredforspecificapplications,suchasmedicaldevicesterilizationandfoodpreservation.4Fortheirradiationoffoodandtheradiationsterilizationofhealthcareproducts,otherspecificISOstandardsexist.Forfoodirradiation,seeISO/ASTMPractice51431.Fortheradiationsterilizationofhealthcareproducts,seeISO11137.InthoseareascoveredbyISO/ASTMPractice51431orISO11137,thosestandardstakeprecedence.Note1—Forguidanceintheselection,calibration,anduseofspecificdosimetersandinterpretationofabsorbeddoseintheproductfromdosemeasurements,seethedocumentslistedinSection2.Note2—Bremsstrahlungcharacteristicsaresimilartothoseofgammaradiationfromradioactivenuclides.SeeISO/ASTMPractices51204and51702fortheapplicationsofdosimetryinthecharacterizationandoperationofgammairradiationfacilities.Forinformationconcerningelectronbeamirradiationtechnologyanddosimetry,seeISO/ASTMPractices51431and51649.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappro-priatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplica-bilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
